Cryptocurrency exchange KuCoin announced the immediate suspension of all services for users located in Russia and Belarus, citing legal and regulatory compliance concerns. In a notice issued on Thursday, the Seychelles-headquartered platform stated that access to its products would be cut off for residents in these jurisdictions. To mitigate disruption, KuCoin committed to providing an "orderly exit process," allowing affected users to withdraw their assets. The exchange emphasized that compliance remains central to its operational decisions regarding service availability.

This decision aligns with broader industry trends as numerous cryptocurrency firms adhere to international sanctions imposed by the United States and Europe against Russia and Belarus following the war in Ukraine. Separately, the Russian Central Bank approved the National Association of Securities Market Participants (NAUFOR) as a self-regulatory body for crypto exchanges and custodians on the same day. The Central Bank’s registry currently lists 23 crypto exchanges and eight digital custody institutions, which are required to join a self-regulatory organization within 90 days.
