Ripple and Robinhood have expanded their partnership to integrate the RLUSD stablecoin into Robinhood’s retail and institutional platforms, alongside new services for treasury management, lending, and trading. According to a Tuesday announcement coinciding with Ripple’s Swell 2026 conference in New York, RLUSD is currently available on Robinhood Chain and Bitstamp by Robinhood, with a launch in the main Robinhood app planned for later this year. Additionally, Robinhood intends to utilize the stablecoin on the XRP Ledger for institutional settlement.
The collaboration extends beyond customer-facing products to Robinhood’s internal financial infrastructure, as the company will adopt Ripple Treasury to manage global cash and liquidity operations. This includes payment processing, cash flow forecasting, and intercompany transactions. The partnership also builds upon Robinhood’s existing relationship with Ripple Prime, which provides financing services to Bitstamp by Robinhood and plans to introduce perpetual futures trading on the exchange later this year.
Launched in December 2024, RLUSD has reached a market capitalization of $2.57 billion, with nearly $1 billion issued on the XRP Ledger, according to DeFiLlama data. Robinhood reported 28.6 million funded customers globally as of August, offering a significant distribution channel for the stablecoin. These developments follow Ripple’s receipt of final approval from the US Office of the Comptroller of the Currency on Monday to establish a national trust bank, which will manage reserves backing RLUSD and provide digital asset custody services.
This expansion signifies a strategic deepening of ties between major crypto infrastructure providers and mainstream fintech platforms, moving beyond simple token listing to embedded financial services. By integrating RLUSD into Robinhood’s core operational tools like treasury management and institutional settlement, Ripple positions its stablecoin as essential plumbing for traditional finance workflows rather than just a speculative asset. The move leverages Robinhood’s massive user base to accelerate adoption while providing Ripple with critical institutional credibility through integration with established brokerage infrastructure.
From a regulatory and market structure perspective, the timing is pivotal. The partnership follows closely on the heels of Ripple securing OCC approval for a national trust bank, suggesting a coordinated effort to align product distribution with regulatory compliance frameworks. For Robinhood, adopting RLUSD offers a potential hedge against volatility in its primary business lines by diversifying revenue streams through stablecoin-related services. However, success depends on whether retail users perceive value in using RLUSD over existing fiat or other stablecoins, particularly given the competitive landscape where incumbents like Circle and Tether already hold dominant market shares.
