Robinhood has integrated Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin and treasury management software into its global financial infrastructure, marking a significant expansion of their partnership. The RLUSD token went live on Tuesday across Robinhood Chain and the Bitstamp exchange, with plans to extend availability to the main Robinhood trading app later this year. This integration allows for faster cross-border money movement without relying on traditional banking hours, leveraging a stablecoin that Ripple reports has a market capitalization exceeding $2.5 billion.
Beyond settlement, Robinhood will adopt Ripple Treasury to manage its global cash operations. This software handles payments, cash-flow forecasts, and risk management, including intercompany netting to reduce the volume of physical transfers between divisions. Additionally, Robinhood intends to use RLUSD on the XRP Ledger specifically for institutional settlement within its Bitstamp business. Bitstamp, which Robinhood acquired in June 2025 for approximately $200 million, serves as a key venue for institutional crypto trading.
The collaboration also involves Ripple Prime, a prime brokerage arm that provides lending and margin financing for hedge funds and large institutions. Ripple Prime already supports lending across roughly 20 digital assets on Bitstamp and is scheduled to introduce perpetual futures trading there later this year. This follows Ripple’s acquisition of Hidden Road, now Ripple Prime, for $1.25 billion in April 2025. Johann Kerbrat, senior vice president at Robinhood Crypto and International, emphasized that utility drives stablecoin adoption, citing access to settlement tools, operational software, and financing as components of a connected global financial system.
This deepening integration signals a strategic pivot for Robinhood from a retail-focused trading platform to a comprehensive institutional financial service provider. By embedding Ripple’s infrastructure directly into its treasury and settlement layers, Robinhood reduces reliance on legacy banking rails for internal liquidity management and external client transactions. The move validates the utility of stablecoins not just as speculative assets, but as functional tools for corporate finance and high-volume institutional clearing.
For Ripple, securing Robinhood as a primary user of its enterprise-grade software represents a critical credibility milestone beyond mere token circulation. It demonstrates that major public companies are willing to entrust core financial operations—such as cash forecasting and intercompany netting—to blockchain-native solutions. However, this convergence increases operational risk; any technical failure or regulatory challenge affecting RLUSD or the XRP Ledger could have immediate downstream impacts on Robinhood’s institutional settlement capabilities and overall liquidity management efficiency.
