Tokenized shares of Securitize (SECZ) have lost more than half their market value in less than a month, widening the gap with market leader Circle (CRCL). According to Token Terminal data, the market capitalization of SECZ tokens fell from a high of $430.4 million on Sept. 28 to $208.6 million by Sunday. This decline coincided with a sell-off in Securitize’s underlying NYSE-traded shares, which closed Friday down 2.1% at $7.80 apiece, resulting in a traditional market cap of $1.27 billion.

In contrast, tokens tracking Circle’s shares gained approximately 20% in market value since Sept. 28, reaching $383.6 million and reclaiming the top spot in the $3.3 billion tokenized stock market. The drop in SECZ followed the Oct. 8 launch of its stock trading platform on Solana, after which Citi downgraded the stock from Buy to Neutral on Oct. 13 due to concerns about tokenization revenue. Securitize, which assists asset managers like BlackRock in issuing securities on blockchains, brought its own common shares onchain alongside its July 2 NYSE listing, initially becoming the largest tokenized equity.

Despite the recent volatility, SECZ remains the largest individual tokenized stock because Circle’s total is distributed across products from several issuers. Binance’s CRCLb on BNB Chain leads those specific offerings with a market cap of $154.1 million.
