Bitcoin treasury company Strategy announced that shareholders have approved amendments enabling its four preferred stocks—STRF, STRC, STRK, and STRD—to pay daily dividends. According to preliminary results, 99.3% of votes cast were in favor of the changes. The amendments shift dividend payments from semi-monthly or quarterly schedules to every business day, with accruals continuing through weekends and holidays without altering annual dividend rates.
Strategy expects daily payments for STRC to commence on November 2, while STRF, STRK, and STRD will follow on January 4, 2027. The company stated that these modifications aim to reduce the time between earning dividends and receiving cash, thereby supporting liquidity and price stability in its preferred shares. Currently, Strategy’s preferred securities carry annual dividend rates ranging from 8% to 12%. STRC offers a variable rate set at 12%, whereas the other three provide fixed dividends; notably, STRK allows investors to convert holdings into Strategy common stock.
This move follows similar actions by fellow Bitcoin treasury firm Strive, which introduced daily cash dividends on its SATA preferred stock in June. Strive has since launched SATS, offering a fixed 15% annual dividend rate with daily payments scheduled to begin November 9, subject to declaration. Strive recently closed a $630 million SATS offering, selling 7 million shares at $90 each, with proceeds potentially allocated to Bitcoin purchases and corporate purposes. As of the report, Strategy holds 848,517 BTC, maintaining its position as the largest publicly traded corporate Bitcoin holder, while Strive ranks fourth with 43,000 BTC.
The shareholder approval marks a structural evolution in how corporate Bitcoin treasuries manage capital costs and investor relations. By transitioning to daily dividend accruals, Strategy addresses a critical friction point for retail and institutional holders who previously faced delays in realizing yield. This mechanism effectively transforms preferred equity into a more liquid instrument, potentially stabilizing share prices by reducing volatility associated with irregular payment cycles. The high approval rate suggests strong alignment between management’s liquidity goals and shareholder expectations for immediate cash flow visibility.
From a market structure perspective, this development intensifies competition among Bitcoin-holding entities to attract capital through enhanced financial engineering rather than solely relying on Bitcoin appreciation narratives. Strategy’s move mirrors earlier innovations by Strive, indicating a broader trend where treasury companies are optimizing their balance sheet instruments to compete for investor attention. However, the operational complexity of managing daily accruals across multiple security types introduces new administrative risks. Investors must monitor whether these liquidity enhancements translate into sustained demand for the preferred stocks or if they merely accelerate turnover without adding long-term value to the underlying Bitcoin reserves.
