US spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds recorded $528 million in net inflows on Wednesday, extending a three-day streak that brought total new capital to $1.08 billion. This surge followed two consecutive weeks of withdrawals, during which the funds shed $681 million and $228 million respectively. The renewed interest coincided with Bitcoin’s price briefly surpassing $84,700 before retreating to approximately $82,485.
BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) led the daily gains with $235 million, while Fidelity’s Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund (FBTC) attracted around $213 million. These inflows pushed October’s net total to approximately $461 million and year-to-date net inflows to $1.34 billion, according to SoSoValue data. The previous day saw a modest addition of $23 million, contrasting sharply with Monday’s substantial $526.6 million intake.
Alternative cryptocurrency ETFs also experienced positive momentum after periods of decline. Ether ETFs halted a five-session outflow streak with $15 million in net inflows. Solana ETFs snapped a 13-day run of losses by adding approximately $585,000, and XRP ETFs contributed around $709,000 to their respective totals.
The reversal from weekly outflows to a three-day billion-dollar influx signals a rapid shift in institutional sentiment, likely driven by Bitcoin's intraday price breakout above $84,700. This volatility suggests that current demand is highly sensitive to short-term price action rather than long-term structural accumulation, creating a fragile foundation for sustained growth. The concentration of inflows in BlackRock and Fidelity products further indicates that major asset managers remain the primary gatekeepers of retail and institutional access to crypto assets.
While the immediate impact is positive for liquidity, the preceding weeks of significant withdrawals highlight the market's susceptibility to abrupt sentiment changes. Investors should monitor whether this inflow streak persists beyond the current price rally or if it represents a temporary spike tied to specific trading events. The modest recovery in altcoin ETFs, particularly Solana and XRP, suggests broader market stabilization but remains secondary to Bitcoin's dominant role in driving overall ETF performance.
