Bloomberg Intelligence senior commodity strategist Mike McGlone has revised his Bitcoin outlook, warning that the cryptocurrency could decline to $10,000. This projection marks a significant shift from his previous bullish stance, where he was among the few Wall Street analysts to forecast a $100,000 price target. McGlone attributes this bearish reversal primarily to the launch of spot Bitcoin ETFs, which he argues signaled the end of the speculative trade cycle for institutional investors.

According to McGlone, Bitcoin has increasingly correlated with traditional equities, describing it as a "stock puppet" with high beta and no distinct edge. He cites macroeconomic headwinds, specifically noting that the Federal Reserve is priced for three rate hikes, which creates unfavorable conditions for risk assets including Bitcoin, gold, and copper. The strategist also points to broader market pressures such as Middle East energy shocks, upcoming midterm elections, and global debt levels totaling $40 trillion as contributing factors to potential downside volatility.

In addition to price predictions, McGlone discussed regulatory developments like the GENIUS Act and the rise of stablecoins, questioning the long-term value proposition of Bitcoin against gold and tokenized assets. He concluded by identifying U.S. Treasuries as his next major investment focus, suggesting a rotation away from digital assets amid current macroeconomic uncertainty.
