XRP exchange inflows have reached a seven-month high, with more than 6 billion tokens deposited in the last 30 days. Data from onchain analytics platform CryptoQuant indicates that rolling 30-day inflows peaked at 6.05 billion XRP by October 19, doubling since mid-August. During this period, the XRP/USD price rose from approximately $1 to a maximum of $1.70 before correcting to current levels near $1.30. CryptoQuant noted that this surge signals a shift in asset movement toward exchanges, potentially reflecting increased trading activity or liquidity needs.
Conversely, whale activity shows a significant decline in interest. The 90-day moving average of whale outflows has dropped 98.6% from its February 2025 peak of $3.5 billion, which occurred shortly after XRP’s all-time high of $3.40. Current whale outflow averages stand at $49.7 million, the lowest level since October 2021. CryptoQuant suggests large-volume investors may be waiting for more advantageous prices, noting that XRP lacks buying volume without whale support despite showing resilience during the 2026 crypto bear market.
Parallel trends are observed in Bitcoin markets. Glassnode reported reduced profit-taking across the Bitcoin investor base, with the realized profit/loss ratio dropping from 0.8 to 0.4 over the past week. This 50% decrease highlights a transition toward subdued sentiment and diminished aggressive spending by market participants as BTC/USD traded within a range between $80,000 and $87,000.
The divergence between rising retail-driven exchange inflows and collapsing whale outflows creates a complex supply-demand dynamic for XRP. While increased deposits often precede selling pressure, the simultaneous withdrawal of institutional-scale buyers removes a critical layer of price support. This structural imbalance suggests that recent price corrections may persist if large holders continue to wait for lower entry points rather than accumulating at current levels.
Market participants should monitor whether the current inflow spike translates into immediate sell-side pressure or merely reflects heightened trading volatility. The absence of whale participation reduces the depth of the order book, making XRP more susceptible to sharp price movements driven by smaller capital flows. This scenario underscores the fragility of altcoin liquidity when major stakeholders step back, potentially extending the consolidation phase until broader market sentiment shifts.
